I have known Michael in a variety of roles: as project leader reporting to me (1994 – 1995), as a co-manager (1996 – 1999) and as a contractor reporting to me (2000). In each of these roles Michael showed the utmost respect for all stakeholders involved in his projects.
Michael has consistently shown a keen sense of urgency, a “can-do” attitude and enthusiasm for high performance. Just one example: for his work on the Source #1 Electronic Manuals project, he received a cash award from the CEO and his team was given a cruise aboard a yacht.
Michael takes initiative. For example, he once presented a proposal to the COO based on his concern for the welfare of the company.
Michael has shown great mental agility understanding data structures and data relationships. On what seemed a purely ‘process’ project he developed a data model which proved valuable to the team effort.
Michael has also demonstrated strategic planning skills. He hosted a Vision Workshop, served a year as Strategic Systems Architect and facilitated a three-week Capital Plan session to map out $100 M worth of IT projects.
Michael has a special ability to obtain consensus among disagreeing project stakeholders. For example, he managed to establish a structured systems development methodology where three previous attempts at the company had failed. This is partly due to his exceptional listening ability; he gets project requirements right the first time. Given the opportunity, I would certainly rehire Michael for the all the reasons cited. He has ethics, adaptability and great problem-solving skills. Michael is an exceptional resource you can count on.
