I have known Michael for several years, in three different roles reporting to me between 1996 and 1999: as systems application development manager, as strategic systems architect and as project office manager. Invariably Michael showed all parties respect.
Michael has consistently demonstrated flexibility, a positive “we can do it” attitude and high energy for growing his people. For example, he took the initiative to actively coach his employees a good year before it emerged as a management trend.
Michael has shown vision, strategic planning skills and group facilitation skills. I once chose him to facilitate an intensive, three-week planning session to map out $100 M worth of IT projects.
Michael has a unique talent for getting agreement and alignment [in part by serving as a coach to all]. For example, in his role as Technical Project Manager of the SDM project, he helped establish a structured systems development methodology. Three previous attempts had been less than successful. Given the opportunity, I would hire Michael once again. He has ethics, adaptability and great problem-solving skills. He was like my ‘right hand’.
