Frequently Asked Questions
Here’s a chance to get quick answers to most common questions.
Why are there no refunds or warranty?
I’m looking for clients committed to making changes and taking action.
Non-refundable payments at Zoom booking time represent “putting your skin into the game” and “throwing your hat over the fence.”
I seek clients who see the possibility of growing and know that new behaviors create new results. And who, deep-down, believe in themselves because of this source of endless possibility.
My job will be to coach and coach. Yours will be to do the actual work. I cannot do it for you.
In the end, you will self-select whether you’re ready to take this risk, because the ‘hard truth’ is “There are no sure things in life.” For example, you might be up against a psychopath boss who really does just want to torture you and just make you suffer. Then again, how likely is that? What are the chances your behavior actually plays a part? Are you willing to be accountable for your part and learn from it?
That said, if you fail – it’s not true failure unless you fail to get back up again.
When all is said-and-done, I advise you to create a contingency plan and a BATNA to fall back on.
Why the first? My life experience tells me, “A contingency plan is needed if and only if you don’t have one.”
A BATNA is your “best alternative to a negotiated agreement.” Roger Fisher and William Ury invented this acronym in their book, “Getting to Yes,” first published in 1981 by Houghton and Mifflin. It applies when you want something [more] from someone in a more powerful position than you. It applies to you in negotiation with your boss and the organization you work for.
I leave you with this: “You have way more assets and resources than you realize; especially when you’re under fire, discouraged or demoralized.” These are times that try you, and when you tend to forget this truth.
I’m a Pro. What is the potential of career coaching for me?
A career as a Top Pro can be a creative outlet in which you get to do fulfilling work you love, associate with smart people like yourself and get paid a decent salary.
But let’s face it – if you’re under constant pressure to deliver, there’s no training allowance and you have a boss with whom you don’t have a good ‘fit’ – your job can also be heart-rending, soul-crushing and mind-numbing. Not to mention being left with so little discretionary time that your family relationships and friendships suffer.
Methinks, to start with you stand to gain value from knowing you are not alone. If you check out the ‘About’ page on this site, you’ll know I’ve been there.
Moreover, I’ve survived and thrived because each survival made me stronger. Now you stand to gain a coach who can guide you through the worst of the hellfire. Here’s a possibility to consider: “The way to heaven leads straight through hell.” Just never, never, never, never, never give up. You will get there.
What about Zoom Session stability and other Technical Issues?
During a Zoom session, you might see a message popup “Your Internet connection is unstable.” To handle this:
- For each cell phone on your local Wi-Fi network, turn off the option to do Wi-Fi calling.
- Pause updates to the OS of all your devices before our session
- Refrain from having anyone else on your local network use Netflix or another streaming service during our session
If you hear garbled speech or my voice breaks up, that’s an issue on my end – please let me know ASAP in the Chat window. I’ll be taking the above-listed measures to ensure it doesn’t happen, but in case it occurs anyhow:
- Please make sure you have the actual Zoom app installed on the device you’ll be using – including the latest updates.
- During every Zoom, ‘Closed Captions’ will be available.
- Toggle the ‘Closed Captions’ option at the bottom of your Zoom meeting screen to “see what I’m saying.”
- If our Zoom session proves unusable, we can reschedule for a day and time when Zoom’s servers are less likely to be heavily loaded.
Finally, I’m eager to address any Zoom session and other technical issues. If we cannot quickly resolve an issue during a Zoom session, I’ll propose an emergency reschedule (via Calendly or email, should we actually get disconnected). Here’s my technical issue contact information:
