I feel ‘squelched,’ even oppressed. Maybe I’ve been many years in the same position without advancement. Worst of all situations, do I sense my head might be on the chopping block?

To uncover this last possibility, I would press below.

I deserve a ‘better deal’ but there’s no one to approach here who appreciates me. If I object, complain or criticize, I just dig myself into a deeper and deeper hole.

Methinks my boss just really doesn’t like me, so I’m his (or her) natural first ‘goat.’ How can I get from under his (or her) fist?

I’m confounded and frustrated. When a higher position gets filled, it’s either from the outside, or goes to someone who’s more junior or less competent – and definitely not as smart as me.
